Photo-a-Day 2014: Day 24

This is a personal project I commence in January where I take a photograph of my children each day. This exercise stretches me as a photographer, as a mother, and as a journalist. This is my 3rd year on this project and I hope to continue it as the years pass.

Day 24
I have been making a habit to wake up before 6 each weekday morning so I can have some time  to myself before one of my children needed me to do...whatever it is they need me to do.  This morning, it was so cold and I turned on the fire while I sipped my coffee and had my quiet time.

The older boys ended up waking very early today and my quiet time was cut short.  They often ask to watch a video when they wake up, but I have learned very quickly that we have a much more pleasant school day if the TV is kept off in the morning.  This morning, though, they were content to lay on the floor in front of the fire and read a book together.

I have a love/hate relationship with early-rising children.  It bothers me that my alone time is cut short, but the kids are so loving and sweet when they first wake up. This morning, the boys were telling each other how much they loved each other and how they were having so much fun reading together.  They were so pleasant that I just had to take a picture of the moment, which eventually passed as the dawn brightened.

Still, mornings are usually a sweet time of snuggles and affection amongst our household.
